Lithium Therapy Study

The Medicine Section of the Department of Medical & Surgical Sciences is looking for people to take part in studies that measure how lithium therapy may alter your kidneys' ability to control the body's water requirements. The Lithium Study started in August 2003. There are four separate studies taking place for which we need participants. Full details can be obtained by using these links:

  2. Changes in renal water handling in individuals following withdrawal of lithium therapy. (Acrobat PDF)

Lithium induced nephrogenic diabetes insipidus: A randomised placebo controlled study of the effect of amiloride on renal water handling in individuals with a bipolar or unipolar disorder, following initiation of lithium therapy and subsequently over the next 12 months of therapy.
