Obstetrics & Gynaecology In Dunedin

The Section is one of three departments/sections in Obstetrics & Gynaecology within the University of Otago, the other two being in Christchurch and Wellington.

Our national, and in some cases international, reputation in clinical practice attracts referrals from around the South Island of New Zealand, and provides an excellent base for teaching in obstetrics, gynaecology and women's health.

Our major teaching responsibility is in the MBChB course. We have a comprehensive registrar training programme directed towards specialist qualifications.   We also convene the Postgraduate Diploma of Obstetrics and Medical Gynaecology, and Certificate in Women’s Health, which are particularly suitable for GPs, midwives and other primary care practitioners.  Our lecturers also contribute to the Bachelor of Physiotherapy, Bachelor of Pharmacy, and Midwifery Degree programmes as well as other postgraduate courses.

We encourage, support, and provide supervision for students wanting to undertake Summer Research Scholarships, Master's and PhDs.
