Undergraduate & Postgraduate Research Opportunities
Master/PhD Projects
Study for a PhD in Women’s Health is normally 3 full time years of work or 5 part-time years. A thesis embodying the results of these investigations is needed and would need to be seen as a significant contribution to the area of research chosen. A Masters project (1 full time year or 2 part-time years) can be an end in itself, but can be started and then, if it goes well at the 1 year stage, be transferred to a PhD. Enquiry as to these projects is most easily via the mentioned supervisor or directly with the Head of Section.
Bachelor of Medical Science with Honours (BMedSc Hons) Projects
The Department actively encourages and supports BMedSc candidates and has a wide range of research opportunities. Information about specific research topics in women's health is put forward each year for promotion through the DSM. If you are wanting to undertake a BMedSc and have a particular area of interest that has not been included in the list, please contact the Department.
Summer Studentships
Summers student scholarships are available from the Faculty of Medicine, School of Health Sciences, Medical Council of New Zealand and others to complete an approved research project over 10 weeks of the summer vacation. For students wanting to undertake a Summer Studentship in women’s health, please check the research interests of the staff listed, and if there is a match with your interests please contact that staff member regarding possible opportunities, or contact the Head of Section, Professor Don Wilson.
