Te Ohonga Ake

The literal translation of Te Ohonga Ake is the Awakening. In the context of this reporting series it refers to an awakening towards the reality of Māori child and youth health status in Aotearoa.

The Te Ohonga Ake series focuses on the health of Māori children and young people at a national level. These reports are based on the series of health reports created for the Ministry of Health and District Health Boards and follow the same reporting cycle. From 2010, the Ministry of Health has provided additional funding for the series to report these indicators at a national level. In most reports there is an in-depth topic addressing particular issues of importance related to the health of Māori children and young people. All reports concerning the Māori children and young people in New Zealand published since 2010 are available in OUR Archive.
