New Zealand Paediatric Surveillance Unit

Welcome to the New Zealand Paediatric Surveillance Unit (NZPSU) website.

The NZPSU was established in 1997 with funding from the Ministry of Health in order to undertake surveillance of acute flaccid paralysis (AFP) for the Ministry of Health's National Certification Committee for the Eradication of Poliomyletis (NCCEP). The opportunity was taken for the study of other uncommon high impact conditions, most of which have been undertaken by paediatricians with a particular interest.

You will find protocols and questionnaires required to notify a case, application forms for a new condition on the card, previous annual reports, published papers and contact details on this website.
